CADMA - Exchange your things
Every spring, In our school we do an activity called “Trueque”, where we exchange toys and books with other classmates. This inspired us to make a mobile app where we can exchange things we don't use or fit anymore like books, toys, sport equipment or school uniforms with our classmates or friends from school, sports clubs or neighbours.
Our app CADMA, made for kids by kids, gives our things a second life not only once a year, promoting responsible consumption and wasting less resources of our beloved planet. It should be used only with adult supervision.
Technical Elements
Learning Journey
Through this journey we learnt these technical things:
- What an app is
- What and where we can find AI.
- App Inventor to make our app. How to use different types of variables, (small boxes each with their tag) and save them in a clouds database (cloudDB is a shelf of boxes).
- Canva and Genially - design logos and backgrounds.
- Google drive - upload and share files.
- Each colour has a code to distinguish it.
- Capcut - edit videos.
We learnt what it means to be a “responsible consumer”, it helps people generate less waste and help our planet. For example, if you have a teddy bear which you don’t use you can donate or exchange it for something you need.
Understanding how App Inventor blocks and concepts works, what a variable or a database is and how to manage files, was difficult for us. Our mentor helped us understand concepts by using examples in our day to day lives and google search.
We think our idea is great and useful, but it’s a bit complex to code. We started by brainstorming and drawing each screen and then went into App Inventor. We wish we had had more time to add more features.
