Complexus
Complexus is a mobile app created by and for young people aged 10 to 18 to help them better understand their emotions, their insecurities, and build self‑confidence.
In response to the pressure of social media, it offers a safe and supportive space combining interactive quizzes, short videos, mini‑games, and a caring AI coach called Complexis. The app supports young users at their own pace, without judgment or diagnosis, while encouraging dialogue with parents or trusted adults. Complexus transforms screen time into a positive, educational, and reassuring tool dedicated to young people’s emotional well‑being.

Learning Journey
Learning Journey
Through this project, our team learned a lot, both technically and personally. First, we learned the importance of teamwork and cooperation. Many of us had to relearn how to work with new people, communicate our ideas clearly, and respect different ways of thinking. At the beginning, this was challenging, but over time we built trust and learned how to collaborate more effectively.
Technically, we discovered many new skills. Coding the alert feature and working with AI integration were difficult, especially for team members with little coding experience. We overcame these challenges by helping each other, asking questions, and using online tutorials, examples, and open‑source resources. The video production was also a challenge: filming, editing, and recording the pitch required focus and coordination. We practiced together, filmed at Marie’s place, and supported one another during multiple takes.
Designing the app was something we enjoyed, even though it was sometimes difficult to make clear and simple choices. Memorizing the pitch text and staying focused during filming were also challenging, but repetition and teamwork helped us succeed.
Overall, this project helped us grow as a team, learn new technical skills, and gain confidence in working together.
Ethics
We designed Complexus with a strong focus on safety, inclusivity, and environmental responsibility. To keep users safe, the app includes age‑appropriate, well‑being–focused content and uses a caring, non‑judgmental AI that never diagnoses or replaces adults. There are no social networks, no photo sharing, no contact with strangers, and no targeted advertising. Data collection is kept to a minimum and handled responsibly. A dedicated alert feature allows young users to reach a parent or trusted adult when needed.
To reduce environmental impact, Complexus follows principles of digital sobriety: a lightweight design, short and optimized videos, no infinite scrolling, and encouragement of mindful screen use. By limiting unnecessary data usage and promoting positive, purposeful interactions, Complexus supports both young people’s well‑being and a more sustainable use of technology.
