Econostudy

This project aims to reduce dropout rates in higher education caused by financial difficulties. To this end,
it proposes the creation of a collaborative platform for sharing academic knowledge, where
students can teach other students and, at the same time, earn money. The initiative involves students—
acting as mentors or mentees—as well as universities and partner companies. The goal is to
encourage students to stay in college, expand access to resources, and strengthen a collaborative network
of academic support and development. The mentor is paid per class, and the student
does not have to pay. Companies fund the project by paying for the classes offered.

Learning Journey

Learning Journey

The team acquired multidisciplinary skills and knowledge, ranging from business administration to block-based programming. In addition, we developed the technical skills needed to actually build and operate an app, while constantly striving to refine and improve our approach to the project. During the project, the team developed skills in collaboration, management, and adapting to challenges. Among the main challenges were the development and coordination of the app’s features. These challenges were overcome through constant communication, alignment meetings, support from mentors, and the pursuit of knowledge. The exchange of information enabled refinement toward the creation of an innovative and practical solution.

Information Legitimacy Description

Reliability analysis was an essential part of the development process. Prioritizing real, reliable data about the problem helped us understand and adapt the project’s requirements to the reality of our target users. For this reason, we conducted a direct survey of college students via an online form, which ensured greater accuracy in our decisions and provided a realistic foundation for the app’s development. In addition, we consulted specialized sources in the target market and reviewed research conducted by both the government and major, well-known organizations.

Ethics

EconoStudy was developed around three core ethical principles.
Equitable access: The corporate funding model was redesigned to prevent more experienced mentors from being automatically favored. Companies review student requests—they do not select mentors directly—thereby reducing biases based on established reputation.
Transparency: students see the course price and description before applying. Companies review the pedagogical approach before funding. There are no hidden decisions in the process.
Inclusion: the platform connects three historically disconnected groups—students without resources, professionals who want to teach, and companies seeking to generate real, traceable social impact.
The simple and intuitive design is also an ethical choice: complex interfaces exclude users with less digital familiarity, contradicting the project’s mission to democratize access to quality education.
