Ecosphere

Ecosphere’s goal is to make Canadians aware of the impacts that pollution can have on the environment and how it can affect them personally. The app that we are creating includes relevant news articles and an interactive map. We are also planning to add other features like quizzes for young users. Our team equally wants Ecosphere to be accessible in French as well as in English.

Learning Journey

Learning Journey

Our team has learned more about coding with blocks and the usage of certain variables. We have also learned that communication is the key to making good projects as a team. We found it challenging to meet up due to physical distance but we have learned to overcome that by learning to adapt to each others different schedules. It was hard to make the program for the app, because we only had limited time to complete it, but we are looking forward to adapting and improving it.

Information Legitimacy Description

We sent a form to people we knew all around Montreal and to random people we met in the hallway at our school to collect data on whether people were aware or not about environmental issues. This means that we got a good variety of responses and that our primary sources are not biased. We also inserted a few articles as examples in our article viewer grid that came from reliable sources like Radio Canada or Le Journal de Montréal, who are known to be truthful.

Ethics

Our team created an app that can teach people on what is happening in Canada environmentally speaking. Education is an important value to us, because it makes people take action on the subjects they learn about. More specifically, we wanted people to care more about nature because many ecosystems and species are already disappearing, which is an urgent problem we need to take action on. To do this, we need more people to gain eco-responsability, and the app that we are developing helps doing this and keeps people informed about all these environmental issues.
