GENORA
Genora is a mobile app designed to bridge generational gaps by creating a safe and accessible digital space where people of all ages — especially the elderly — can connect, share stories, and explore content together. Through a social-media-style feed of personal stories and life experiences, Genora fosters mutual understanding across generations. The app also features dedicated sections on recipes, fashion, culture, and lifestyle, inviting older adults into the digital world through topics they already love. Genora is built with accessibility at its core, making technology welcoming for everyone.

Learning Journey
Throughout the development of Genora, our team grew both technically and personally. On the technical side, we learned how to design accessible interfaces, structure databases for user-generated content, and develop features focused on older adults’ needs.
On the non-technical side, we faced challenges in understanding real user needs, which we overcame through interviews with elderly people and their families, allowing us to refine our solution with empathy.
Working as a team also improved our communication, organization, and resilience. Each challenge helped us rethink assumptions and build a more inclusive, human-centered product.
Information Legitimacy Description
To ensure the accuracy and credibility of our research, we used a multi-layered verification approach. We cross-referenced scientific articles and academic papers with reputable organizations such as the World Health Organization and the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics for data on elderly populations and digital exclusion. We also conducted direct interviews with older adults and their families, validating real-world challenges our app aims to solve. Additionally, we consulted educators and health professionals to confirm alignment with established knowledge. When in doubt, we compared multiple independent sources before including any information.

When developing the app, we considered fundamental ethical principles such as privacy, security, and respect for users. Since the platform connects older adults and young people, we prioritized the protection of personal data, ensuring that all information is securely stored and used only with consent. We also implemented moderation and profile verification mechanisms to reduce risks and prevent inappropriate interactions.
In addition, we aim to promote an inclusive and respectful environment, valuing the exchange of experiences without any form of discrimination. The app was designed to strengthen social bonds in a safe way, contributing to the emotional well-being of older adults and encouraging empathy between generations.
