Healthy Me
Healthy Me
Development of a life-simulation online game that follows a character throughout a day, guiding them to make healthy choices to stay well. By giving them choices about what to eat, when to sleep, whether to exercise or not, and how much water to drink, the player earns points for every healthy decision they make. This would raise users’ awareness of healthier habits and an understanding of the influence of their routines on their health. Within the game, there are educational resources to help users understand what the healthier choices are. Our target audience is children aged 8-13.

Learning Journey
Learning Journey
Through this project, we learned the basics of how to program, since creating a game was something we had never done before. It was challenging initially, as well as keeping up with schoolwork while developing this game. But as we clearly divided our tasks and set up meetings to discuss our progress, we successfully organized ourselves and made everything work. Hence, we learned the importance of teamwork and organization. Furthermore, we learned how nutrition is one of the main issues among children in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and how it is essential to keep a balance in your diet.
Information Legitimacy Description
First, we designed a questionnaire based on the factors we researched that affect health to understand the current healthy habits of children aged 8-13, who were students from our respective schools, and answered it. These were written in simple language and discussed day-to-day situations so they could be relevant and understandable to users. This allowed a representation of children’s health routines. Also, we gathered data on Brazil’s current health state, and ensured all information was reliable by only gathering data from known and reputable sources, such as Sisvan, the Food and Nutrition Surveillance System of the Ministry of Health.

Instead of establishing health as only a standard body type or having a strict diet, our game intends to promote a balanced diet, in which both healthy and unhealthy foods can be eaten, but it is important to maintain an equilibrium. In this sense, no idealizations of body or appearance were presented because there are distinct ways of having a healthy appearance. Also, we understand that there are different ways of adopting healthy habits; hence, there were various options provided throughout the game that allow you to build your own healthy routine. Additionally, the measurement of mood is an important aspect of health that is often overlooked but is essential; thus, adding this indicator offers a complete version of health, not an idealized one.
