Local Impact is a social engagement application that allows the registration, monitoring, and tracking of urban events in real time. Its purpose is structured around the following pillars: waste management, public health, environmental preservation, infrastructure, and security.
The app's objective is to promote citizen participation by identifying and resolving urban problems, which directly contributes to the improvement of living conditions in any given town or city.
To verify the application's acceptance and functionality, validation steps included a questionnaire for people across Brazil and Portugal. A total of 128 responses were successfully collected, with 85% overall indicating they would use the application.

Creating this app was a huge challenge! At first, we knew nothing about programming; looking at that screen seemed incredibly difficult. We had to overcome our fear of making mistakes and learn from scratch how to use MIT App Inventor 2.
We learned to assemble logic blocks, organize data, and, most importantly, be resilient when something didn't work. Teamwork was essential: we listened to feedback and improved things together. Today, we realize that technology is not just code, but a powerful tool for solving problems in our community and transforming ideas into reality.

The team treated ethics as a core principle throughout the app’s development, making responsible decisions that respect users. They prioritized data privacy by avoiding unnecessary data collection and ensuring secure protection. Transparency was maintained by clearly explaining how the app works and how user information is used. The team also considered the app’s social impact, aiming to address real community needs without causing harm or exclusion. Accessibility was another key focus, ensuring people of different ages and skill levels could use the app easily. Overall, ethics guided every stage, promoting trust, inclusion, and responsible use of technology.

So, ethics were present at all stages, promoting trust, inclusion, and social responsibility in the use of technology.
