Currently, donors face
inefficiency and difficulties in
distributing donations, not
knowing where to safely
deliver resources. The lack of a
reliable channel causes the
intention to help to get lost in
uncertainty. At the same time,
NGOs suffer from anonymity,
without space to promote
their causes, creating a cycle
where vital resources remain
unused while institutions lack
support. The solution is an application that organizes and
manages the flow of
donations, directing them straight
to those in need

Learning Journey
Learning Journey
Throughout the project, we learned a lot about the ideation process, how to develop a canvas, and how to create app prototypes that integrate all the features together. We also learned how to make a clear presentation of our idea in a pitch and technical video and had a chance to present it to our school. Our main challenge was the development of the application in App Inventor, since we had never used the tool before and we were learning how to use it. However, with a lot of research and good teamwork, we managed to overcome these challenges.
Information Legitimacy Description
To come up with the idea for the app, we discussed the problems we saw in the world today until we started thinking about item waste. We did some research and realized that this is a very common problem these days. With that, we began developing the ideas through discussion. Soon after, we created a paper prototype to give better guidance on what the app’s features would look like; we also created a survey to ask people if they also face the problem we’d identified and if they thought the application could have a positive impact on people's lives.

The project consists of an application that connects people who want to donate clothes, groceries, and other items to individuals and institutions in need. The idea for the app arose from the significant waste of items in Brazil and the difficulty vulnerable populations face in accessing basic necessities. The development team placed ethics at the center of the project, prioritizing security, privacy, and dignity of all users. Furthermore, the app was planned to ensure that donations reach those who truly need them through systems for verifying institutions and organizing requests. There was also an effort to prevent any type of discrimination, making the platform accessible and inclusive.
A vital aspect of the project is the promotion of conscious consumption, which helps reduce disposal of items and contributes to lowering environmental impacts widely discussed by organizations. Foster not only social assistance but also a sense of responsibility and respect among users.
