Meu-ciclo

‘Meu-ciclo’ combats violence against girls aged 12 to 18, addressing critical issues such as the risk of death and the isolation caused by fear. We developed an application disguised as a menstrual tracking app, ensuring that requests for help can be made in complete secrecy. We chose this solution because discretion is the only way to protect the victim at home without alerting the aggressor. The app features a hidden panic button and direct connection with authorities, providing a safe and silent reporting channel to save lives.

Learning Journey

Learning Journey

We learned to work as a team, organizing tasks from our first meeting and holding online sessions with our mentor, who guided us throughout the development process, as well as with Ismart, which introduced us to the project and supported us.
During this experience, we also gained important technical knowledge in tools such as Canva, Lovable, and MIT, which contributed to building our project. Despite our progress, we faced some challenges, especially related to time management, since we live in different states, making it harder to coordinate schedules and find a day when everyone was available.

Information Legitimacy Description

We made sure our information was reliable by using trusted sources like the Fórum Brasileiro de Segurança Pública, Instituto Maria da Penha, and the Ministério da Justiça e Segurança Pública, which provide official data about violence and public safety in Brazil. We also used information from UN Women and DataSenado to better understand the problem. To be sure everything was accurate, we compared different sources and used feedback from potential users. This helped us create a project based on real and trustworthy information.

Ethics

During the development, we carefully considered ethical and safety implications, as our app is designed to protect women in vulnerable situations. Although it appears to be a menstrual tracking app, its purpose is to provide a discreet and secure channel for reporting domestic, sexual, and psychological violence.
We prioritized user safety by minimizing data collection and avoiding sensitive information that could expose users. Any stored data is protected, and the app is designed to leave no visible traces that could endanger the user.
Artificial intelligence was used only as a support tool during the programming process and is not integrated into the app, preventing risks such as biased or unsafe automated responses.
We intentionally avoided manipulative design and ensured that all features empower users without increasing anxiety or dependency. Our goal is to create a safe, inclusive, ethical solution that protects lives and supports women without causing harm to individuals or communities.
