Learning Journey

Learning Journey

The biggest technical challenge was not the code. It was understanding who we were coding for.
We wanted to build an adapted platform for neurodivergent learners, so we turned to psychology and consulted a specialist, reshaping every design decision, from background color to question structure. Starting with HTML and CSS, each of us specialized, evolving into a full-stack team. All of it happened across countries, online. Distance demanded proactivity, but SCRUM and weekly meetings turned a distributed group into a unified team. In the end, we discovered that the most powerful insight in any project is the human behind it.

Information Legitimacy Description

To ensure our information was legitimate, we researched autism and ADHD in peer-reviewed journals from SciELO and articles from universities like Harvard and UNAM, as well as institutional authorities on neurodiversity.
Then, we combined this scientific data with practical strategies from educational institutions and platforms—such as Brilliant and Duolingo—and question styles inspired by the Bebras Challenge. To secure the quality and accuracy of Neureka’s pedagogical content, we reviewed all materials by working with our school’s technology department and a specialized consultant in neurodivergent learning. Therefore, every design in Neureka was research-based and tailored to neurodivergent learners’ real needs.

Ethics

Neureka was designed privacy-first: students are identified by a unique code - accessible by up to two parents -, passwords are encrypted with Bcrypt, and protections against SQL injections and DDoS attacks were implemented. The platform collects only strictly necessary data.
All content was written, designed, and reviewed by us — including images — with attention to respect and pedagogical appropriateness. AI was used for code support, while game questions were written by our school's technology department to ensure accuracy.
Beyond cybersecurity, Neureka GS aims for positive social impact. Its adapted interface for neurodivergent users with autism and ADHD — with plans to expand to dyslexia and other conditions — tests the early foundations of inclusive technology. Therefore, the concepts we validate now will add to the knowledge pool that future applications will build upon. This way, we ensure cybersecurity while programming a future for every mind.
