Project Horizon: Health and Equity in Sexual Information
We have observed a lack of knowledge among women regarding female sexual health and education. It is of the utmost importance that every woman be informed about this subject, given its impact on various aspects of a woman’s life, such as menstruation, diseases, and fertility, topics that society often treats as taboo.
With this in mind, we developed “Venus,” an app designed to provide free access to safe and reliable information on women’s sexual health and education. Furthermore, it aligns with Sustainable Development Goals three, four, and five by promoting gender equality and access to quality education and healthcare.

The team gained expertise in research, data analysis, privacy, prototyping, and communication, recognizing that handling sensitive information about women’s sexual health requires ethical rigor and technical caution.
We learned that integrity and confidentiality are not merely technical requirements, but pillars that underpin trust in the project, ensuring a welcoming environment that protects human dignity.
To overcome security challenges, we implemented anonymization protocols, ensuring that the volunteers’ accounts were dissociated from their identities.
Information Legitimacy Description
To ensure the reliability of the information, the team prioritized recognized authoritative sources, such as the OMS, FEBRASGO, UNESCO, and articles published by health experts, the Ministry of Health, and the Federal Government.
In addition, they conducted field research so that women of all ages could contribute their personal experiences anonymously.
This process ensured the elimination of bias and misinformation, guaranteeing that all content provided is technically accurate, safe, and strictly based on scientific evidence for the female audience.

Our app was designed under the principle of Privacy by Design, ensuring that highly sensitive health and violence data, collected in accordance with the LGPD (Brazilian General Data Protection Law), is safeguarded by end-to-end encryption and a "Discreet Mode" that camouflages the icon to protect the user in vulnerable environments. The completely free app mitigates dangerous behaviors by providing exclusively information based on scientific evidence, including panic buttons for immediate response. Through an inclusive and neutral interface, we combat prejudice and algorithmic bias, removing the stigma surrounding STIs. By connecting victims to official support networks without exposing their identity, the app generates a positive and sustainable social impact; its optimized code reduces battery and data consumption, decreasing the digital carbon footprint and energy pollution. Thus, we democratize access to sexual health as a fundamental human right, ensuring it is safe, accessible, and ecologically responsible.
