Our project is focused on and designed for all women. We are developing an app called SheByte. Initially, it simulates a menstrual cycle tracking app, featuring a calendar and mood tracking. By clicking on a small flower icon, which appears to be just a detail, the real app appears. Thereafter, women gain access to various tools that make their daily lives safer, such as a safe location map, an emergency button for immediate danger situations, and a community of volunteer women (lawyers, psychologists, social workers), among others. Our goal is to support and welcome all women through our project.

The team used Design Thinking and MIT App Inventor to build the app. Beyond technical challenges with specific features, we faced the major difficulty of balancing an intense study routine with the project, which demanded resilience. Learning was also a hurdle, as grasping block-based logic in a short time led to uncertainty. We overcame this through weekly meetings with professors to address questions and regular sessions with mentors, where we discussed documentation and development, ensuring the academic workload didn’t hold back the team’s progress.
Information Legitimacy Description
The information used throughout the project was researched on official institutions' websites, such as the Brazilian Public Security Forum (FBSP). In addition, data on the needs of women regarding our application were obtained from a survey done by ourselves, through a form shared on social networks.

Our app was created with a strong commitment to ethics and safety. We prioritize women’s privacy by requiring only an email for login, without collecting sensitive information. We aim for full inclusion by keeping the app free, ensuring access for women from all financial backgrounds, and maintaining a strong focus on accessibility for users with visual impairments. In addition, we ensure that our language, visual elements, and algorithms are strictly neutral and inclusive, eliminating any form of bias. Our social impact is direct: we fight violence against women by providing a fast and secure channel for reporting and support, helping address the issue without creating additional risks.
