Learning Journey

The motivation came from our personal experiences, in living with family and friends with autism. When we dived deep to understand the needs of these people, we realized that the app could be a powerful tool to promote inclusion.
During the Technovation Girls program, our learning was constant: we started with a survey, to map the specific needs of autistic people. We consulted doctors and specialized literature on the subject. We learned about the design, so we could create an app that was intuitive and tailored to the needs of the community. We also learned how to use the Thunkeable tool to develop the app, and the Business Plan, which is new to us.
We face technical challenges, such as ensuring access and usability across different devices and operating systems. Another big challenge was validating the app, we conducted tests and collected feedback from real users, to make the app more inclusive.
In this journey of developing an app for autistic people we learned about the importance of understanding and inclusion when dealing with the needs of this group. We believe that technology can help greatly in the inclusion of people with ASD and we are to contribute to this!
